Math Paper Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 23, 2026
Effective Date: March 23, 2026
Welcome to Math Paper. This Privacy Policy explains how Math Paper (“we”, “us”, or “our”), a Math Paper company, collects, uses, shares, retains, and protects information when you use the Math Paper iOS application (“App”). The App helps users solve mathematical problems by processing images of math questions with artificial intelligence and returning handwritten-style solutions. This Policy applies to information collected through the App and any associated services we operate.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information to provide and improve the App:
Photos and Media
Images you capture with your device camera or select from your photo library (for example, photos of math problems). These are required for the App’s core functionality.
Any derived data created from those images (for example: extracted text, recognized equations, processed or rendered handwritten-style solutions).
Anonymous Authentication & Purchase Data
We use anonymous authentication. We do not collect personally identifiable information such as your email address, name, or phone number. We use a randomly generated anonymous device identifier to keep track of your token balances.
In-app purchase transactions (token packages) are handled completely by Apple (App Store). We do not collect or store payment card information. Apple provides us with anonymous confirmation of purchases so we can credit your token balance.
Usage Data (Technical & Diagnostic)
Information about your device and how you use the App (e.g., app version, iOS version, device model, crash logs, token usage counts). Additionally, standard network data, such as IP addresses, may be automatically processed by our underlying server infrastructure solely for security, routing, and abuse prevention purposes. This information is processed anonymously.
Tokens & Usage Balances
Records of token consumption and remaining token balances associated with your anonymous device ID.
Other Information
Communications you send us (e.g., feedback or support requests).
Metadata such as timestamps and location embedded in media only if you choose to include such metadata when sharing images; the App does not request location access unless you explicitly grant it to other iOS features.
Note: The App does not display advertising and we do not sell personal information.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected information for the following purposes:
To provide and operate the App features:
Process images with AI to generate handwritten-style solutions.
Store and display your history of questions and solutions locally on your device.
Manage anonymous token balances.
To communicate with you:
Provide customer support and respond to direct inquiries.
For payments and billing:
Verify and manage consumable in-app purchases (through Apple).
To improve and secure the App:
Analyze anonymous usage patterns and crash data, improve our AI models and user experience, detect and prevent abuse, and maintain the security and reliability of services.
For legal and safety purposes:
Comply with applicable laws and regulations, enforce our terms, and respond to lawful requests by public authorities.
For research and development:
Aggregate and anonymize data to analyze trends and improve features. Aggregated or de-identified data cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
3. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We may share your information with third parties in the following limited circumstances:
Service Providers and Processors
We use third-party service providers to host and operate backend services, process AI requests, handle file storage, perform technical support, and facilitate analytics and monitoring. This includes:
Apple (App Store / In-App Purchases) for payments and purchase management.
iOS frameworks used by the App such as AVFoundation and PhotosUI to access camera and photos.
Third-party AI processing providers that perform image analysis and generate solutions on our behalf. Images and derived data must be transmitted to these processors for automated analysis.
These service providers are contractually limited to processing data only for the purposes we authorize and to maintain confidentiality and security.
Legal Requirements and Safety
We may disclose information to comply with applicable law, legal process, regulation, or governmental request; to protect and defend our rights or property; or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or bankruptcy, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
With Your Consent
We will share information in any other ways disclosed to you and with your consent.
We do not sell personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
4. Data Retention
We retain data for as long as necessary to provide services, to comply with legal obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. Typical retention practices include:
Photos and Processed Images
If images and their generated solutions are stored in your local app history on the device: retained until you delete them or uninstall the App.
If images are uploaded to our servers or a third-party AI processor for processing: retained temporarily for troubleshooting, improving model performance, abuse prevention, and service analytics.
Purchase Records
We retain anonymous purchase receipts and token balances for accounting and fraud prevention purposes.
Usage & Diagnostic Data
Technical and diagnostic logs may be retained for up to 24 months to assist in improving and securing the App.
5. Security Measures
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include encryption in transit (e.g., HTTPS/TLS), secure coding practices, and periodic security reviews. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children and is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us at math-paper@forvibe.app.
7. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA compliant)
If you are located in jurisdictions with privacy rights such as the European Union (GDPR) or California (CCPA), you have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correction, deletion, and data portability.
Because Math Paper uses completely anonymous authentication, we do not possess identifiable data (like names or emails) to link to a specific real-world identity. To submit a privacy request related to your anonymous device data, please email math-paper@forvibe.app with “Privacy Request” in the subject line. We may require specific diagnostic identifiers from your app installation to locate any associated anonymous data.
8. AI / Automated Processing Disclosure
The App relies on automated AI processing to analyze images of math problems and generate handwritten-style solutions.
The App analyzes the visual content of images to detect mathematical notation and render step-by-step solutions based on machine learning models.
The AI-generated responses are automatically produced and may be imperfect or incorrect. Users should independently verify critical solutions. The App is intended for educational and illustrative uses only and is not a substitute for professional instruction.
Third-Party Processing: To generate these solutions, your images are transmitted to our third-party AI service providers. These providers process the data to fulfill your request. Please be aware that depending on the third-party provider's terms of service, the data you submit may be used by them to improve or train their machine learning models. By utilizing the AI features of Math Paper, you acknowledge this external processing.
9. In-App Purchases (Token System)
Math Paper does not offer auto-renewable subscriptions. We operate strictly on a pay-as-you-go model using a token system.
Tokens & Usage: Generating solutions consumes tokens. You can purchase single-use (consumable) token packages via in-app purchases (processed by Apple). Token balances are tracked securely via an anonymous device identifier.
Refunds: Refunds for token purchases are handled by Apple according to Apple’s refund policies. Contact Apple Support or use the report-a-problem portal for refund requests.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or features of the App. When we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated Policy with a new “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the changes.

Additional Notes:
Third-Party Frameworks: The App uses AVFoundation and PhotosUI (iOS frameworks) to access camera and photos. These frameworks are used locally on your device and require you to grant permission. You can manage these permissions in your device’s Settings.
No Advertising: The App does not show third-party advertisements and does not sell personal information.
